There are many things in our communities that we wished were better. This lesson goes with the Make a Change lessons. This is what you need to pass the Level 3 Health standard about taking action to enhance an aspect of people’s well-being within the school or wider community.
Step 1
Find an issue that you can help with. If you want some help coming up with an issue try this lesson. In the introduction of your assignment explain why this issue is so bad. What effect does it have on you and the community? What will happen to the community and you if it continues?
I recommend taking a survey to get a baseline to measure your success.
Step 2
Once you know what issue you want to tackle you need to make a detailed plan of attack. This is best done with a SMART goal.
There are different ways to approach this - here are some ways.
Step 3
Put your plan into action. Log what happens. Keep a journal where you can reflect on how well things are going, what obstacles you have to overcome and what your next steps are going to be. If you want some ideas on how to keep a reflective journal then try this lesson.
Don't forget to put in the date, what you did that day, enablers and barriers to your goal and how you dealt with it.
Step 4
Once you have completed your plan you should write up an evaluation. Your journal will be very useful for this part.
How well did you keep to your plan?
What things changed and why?
What positive things happened because of your plan?
How did it change things?
What things didn't go well?
What could you do to change the outcome if you had to do it again?
Why do you think things went wrong?
What are some alternative actions you could have taken to make things even better?
What things can you do now to improve on your outcomes?
Include your plan, notes and journal as part of it all. If you have pictures or other evidence of your improvement then include those as well.
The task for this standard.
