The building blocks of a character is the archetype. Here is a list of some of the archetypes you'll see in fiction. When you look at New Zealand film keep this list in mind.

What we do in the shadows has launched people's careers all around the world so that is where we will start when it comes to New Zealand Horror.

New Zealand horror tends towards the more campy side of the genre. What we do in the shadows isn't the only humourous horror.




You'd be surprised at the connection between humour and horror.


Choose an archetype or stereotype from these films or any other New Zealand film.

Analyse the media texts to establish:

· the representation of Kiwi identity they create

· how they create it

· why they create it

· the impact of this representation in shaping Kiwi identity

· reasons for this impact

· the wider significance of the media representation for New Zealand culture or society

· specific examples to illustrate the points you make in your multi-media presentation.
