Preproduction
Now that you've had a chance to look at the genre, in general, it is time to start planning.
This site has a step-by-step guide on how to write the script. Here are some short films to help you become inspired.
Keep notes of the planning stage. Write down what your influences are and why you have chosen certain aspects(This section should be significant - go into detail about what the genre and how you are using the elements of the genre in your film).
Here are some questions to ask yourself while planning:
1. Where will you shoot? Locations?
2. What do you want the setting to look like?
3. What props will you need?
4. What costumes will you need?
5. What will happen in each Act?
6. Create a storyboard and scene sheets
7. Who is the cast?
8. Who are the crew and what role will they have?
9. What kind of shots will you need?
10. How will you transition from scene to scene?
11. What kind of timeline will the shooting take?
12. What kind of music will you have?
13. Budget? Where will the money be coming from?
Include the script in your planning. Here is a site with step-by-step guide to the preproduction stage of film making.
Optional:
Part of your making a movie you will be creating all peripherals that are usually included in making a movie. Here you will be making a logo for your production company. This can be a moving image like you see at the start of a movie or you can make a static one. This will be included as part of your art portfolio board at the end of the year.
If your portfolio board is going to be static then you should go with a still logo like these.
Start off with a name for your company. It should have an element in the name that will guide you in designing your logo.
Create a series of sketches of possible designs. Develop three of them into logos. Sit with the logos for a while. See what others think about it. Take their feedback into consideration and then make a final logo that will be your production company's logo. You need to keep notes with all your images. Discuss the influences and what you were thinking as you designed the logos. Discuss what changes you could possibly make and the flaws of the designs.
