Logan

I have a soft spot for comic book movies. It is probably because I grew up with them. My favourites were ironically the classics illustrated. They are now worth an arm and a leg but I'd would read some of them over and over until the pages would fall out.

From them I found out what happened in the Last of the Mohicans and the Red Badge of Courage. But there was also the Tintin books and X-Men.

Logan appeals to me because it has Western elements. So this lesson is focused more on Logan the film than on his other iterations

I thought I would look at Logan's evolution from a reluctant hero to someone who is willing to risk his life. I thought I would look at this with a lens that is normally used for writing romance stories. DREAM. Denial of the relationship, resistance to the relationship, explore the relationship and then accept the relationship which of course in romance leads to Marriage. If all of this sounds familiar it is based on the grief cycle. But many films take this path.

Here is more how it relates to Logan and his role as a hero.

Denial - I'm not a hero go find someone else.

Resistance - I won't go out of my way to help you but I won't stop you tagging along.

Explore - I'll be your hero as long as you pay me

Accept - I'll be your hero but I'm probably no good because I'm old.

Manifestation - SPOILERS

There are many films that you could explore and see how they are a reluctant hero and different lens you can look at. One popular one is the hero's journey.

This theory also comes with different Archetypes of heroes.

Not all heroes though have a happy ending.

This journey of the hero is thought to have ancient roots.

Pick one of these questions and write a response to it.
